Putter Fittings

A putter fitting is one of the most important things you can do for your golf game. Over 40% of all strokes are with a putter, and a properly fit putter will make you better. A good fitting putter not only takes into account length and grip, but also stroke type, lie angle, insert, green type and speed, alignment aids, and balance point. A good club fitter will ask you many questions about your putting game, and the more truthful you are, the better the fit. Come in to Golfers' Warehouse and be fit for a new putter and watch your scores go down.

Ping I15 Evaluation

"I had been playing a set of I3+ blades for quite sometime and had recently picked up a set of I5's to obtain a bit more forgiveness. What I really wanted was an iron that gave me the playability of the I3+ with the forgiveness of the I5.

I had the opportunity to play a set of the new I15 irons and was pleasantly surprised to find exactly what I was searching for. The head was a perfect size, reasonably compact with a touch of offset, and the AWT shaft performed well. Good ball flight and a nice solid feel combined with a sole plate capable of cutting a nice divot. In my opinion you can't ask for much more than that..."

Stack and Tilt is a new golf swing theory that is sweeping the game and the instruction world. As the Director of Golf Instruction here at Golfers' Warehouse it is my job to stay on top of these new methods. We are working hard to provide those students who want to learn this method with the best Stack & Tilt info that they can get short of Bennett and Plummer.

The latest addition to my bag is the TaylorMade Burner. I switched from the Nike Ignite and gained 10 - 15 more yards. Of course, every golfer is different, so this might be more relevant for women golfers who are 5'4" with a club head speed around 80 -85 MPH.

Favorite New England Golf Courses

Here are my 3 favorite New England golf courses.
What are yours?

1. The Oaks at the International in Bolton, MA. This is a private golf course designed by Tom Fazio. Carved out of the natural landscape, the Oaks has dramatic elevation changes and incredible views. Fazio used the land to create natural hazards and other challenges, yet the fairways are wide enough to keep the frustration level to a minimum for the average golfer. When you play the Oaks, you feel like you and your playing partners are the only ones on the course creating the atmosphere of a five-star resort. There are no condos surrounding the course, the service is first class and the food is fabulous. I highly recommend the International ice cream to finish off a delectable dinner.

2. The North Course at Lake of Isles. A Rees Jones design, this public course is owned by Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation and located on 900 acres of pictorial landscape across the street from Foxwoods Resort Casino in Ledyard, CT. I played Lake of Isles during a company outing. It is one of the most spectacular golf courses that I've ever played. The views are incredible. You travel over wooden bridges through the woods to the next hole that has an even more magnificent view than the previous one. The Pequots "spared no expense" in building this course. Just remember to bring extra golf balls, which is the reason that I ranked this course 2nd to the Oaks. There are a lot of forced carries and lots of trouble. If your swing is slightly off, you could spend the majority of the day taking a drop for yet another penalty stroke. I hope to get a chance to play this course again in the Fall.

3. Newport National in Newport, RI. Designed by Arthur Hill and Drew Rogers, the Orchard Course at Newport National Golf Club runs along The Sakonnet Passage, Atlantic Ocean and Narragansett Bay. I like this course because it plays like the Oaks. The women have a big advantage off the tee, which is always fun, the fairways are wide and the ocean view is gorgeous.
