Stack & Tilt Instruction

Tips about Stack & Tilt

Stack and Tilt is a new golf swing theory that is sweeping the game and the instruction world. As the Director of Golf Instruction here at Golfers' Warehouse it is my job to stay on top of these new methods. We are working hard to provide those students who want to learn this method with the best Stack & Tilt info that they can get short of Bennett and Plummer.

I would like your input, thoughts and questions on this golf swing method and I will follow up on those items.

What is the theory behind stack and tilt?

I developed my own version of "stack and tilt" several years ago, to prevent hips sliding back off the ball, and because I am left-handed playing the game right handed (left eye dominant). It works 100% of the time, and I think it is actually the very best swing for irons and wedges, period!
It also works well for people who do not take a full turn, or who tend to reverse pivot.

I have been using the S & T golf swing since May, 2008 and I had my best season ever. Handicap index went down from a 13.0 to 9.6 during the summer. I went to the S & T swing to prevent episodes of a reoccuring back problem caused by my former (traditional) swing. I have never hit the ball straighter and because your wieght is on your left side (right-handed) you rarely hit the ball fat. I am a true beliver of the S & T swing and the proof is that I broke 80 more than 10 times this season as opposed to the 1 or 2 a season during the past 10 years. Also, if you suffer with a back problems, try this swing it will help prevent any back issues as a result of the golf swing. I am living proof that this swing will help your golf game.

One day, not long before I bought the dvd set it occurred to me that "I'm going to hit my irons and fairway metals fat my entire life." I was completely sure and sick of this.
I'm striking the ball so MUCH better now with the S&T and it starts with pure contact. My swing has moved "forward" or closer to the hole. A whole new series of good events follow, like coming aggressively from the inside, hence, longer shots. I think fear of hitting a fat shot made me swing down the line and over the top off the fairway. But, now, off the fairway, because I know I'm going to strike ball first, coming from the inside is not a problem.
Before S&T, the one stick I could hit pretty well was the driver and I'm sure it is because the ball is teed up. Yet, I notice the S&T has helped pure my contact here too.
In addition to moving the swing "forward," they teach something called the "flying wedge." The idea is that the right wrist stays bent past impact (or the hands are well ahead of the ball at impact.) This also helped me a lot, because I have a tendency to release early and now I know more about how to deal with that. This creates more power and also moves the bottom of the swing forward (closer to the hole.)
I've only played four rounds with this swing. Good is purer contact, more powerful swing, longer sots. Bad is both direction and shape. My misses tend to be straight right of target and hook that starts right, but ends up left of target. This is a wide margin, and I know I need more range work and play. Also, the dvd set looks at both of these issues. I am going to try my feet looking left of target and club facing target. I think this will discourage the draw and help my misses to the right.
